The Last Sunrise Movie Review:
The Last Sunrise Movie Review

If you seek for a light romantic movie filled with sunshine, beaches, young love, and some drama, The Last Sunrise would suit you well. It was directed by Carlson Young and is currently available on Prime Video in English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

In the story, Ry (Maia Reficco) is a student suffering from a chronic disease. For this reason, she is spending a vacation in Mallorca with her mother Isolde (Eva Longoria).

Everything changes for Ry once she meets a local Julián (Fernando Lindez), who enters her life with a unique energy.

Their romance is developing fast, but this movie is much more than a typical romance. Being surrounded by the shadows of her health problem and care of her mother for years, Ry is inspired to change her routine by Julián.

However, as their love grows, several problems appear because of Ry’s health condition, family conflicts, and a couple of secrets.

How is the movie?
Probably, the best thing about the film is its simplicity. It does not include any unnecessary plot twists. Moreover, the backdrop in Mallorca fits the movie perfectly providing it with summer vibes.

Speaking about acting, Maia Reficco is the best performer in the movie. She shows her natural vulnerability as Ry and desire to live without any restrictions.

As for Fernando Lindez, he looks quite comfortable as a protagonist. He has the perfect charm for the role and great chemistry with Reficco.

Eva Longoria gets a more challenging role as the caring mother of Ry. This helps to add some depth to the characters’ relations, making the film even more touching.

However, the movie is not very unexpected. Such story line, family problems, and romantic struggles are quite common in other movies. Some emotional scenes also could be developed more.

The rest of the actors do their job, but it is clear that the movie is about Ry and Julián.

What works

* Maia Reficco’s performance

* Good chemistry between the leads

* Beautiful Mallorca locations

* Relaxed summer-romance atmosphere

* Emotional mother-daughter relationship

What doesn’t

* Predictable storyline

* Some underdeveloped plot points

* A few emotional moments lack impact

* Doesn’t offer anything particularly new to the genre

Final Verdict
The Last Sunrise is far from being a revolutionary romantic drama, but it is a nice movie to watch in your free time. Performances, locations, and romance work well here.

If you seek for an intense and emotionally deep film, this one may disappoint you. However, for a light romance tale in sunny background and family drama it suits.
