Habeebi review:
Habeebi is a Tamil romantic drama that goes for a quieter, more emotional route rather than trying to turn love into a big cinematic spectacle. Now streaming on SonyLIV, the film is directed by Meera Kathiravan and features Kasthuri Raja, Isha, Malavika Manoj, Dhanasree Sudhakaran, Kousick Dev, Anusreya people make when things don’t go the way they imagined. What I liked is that Habeebi doesn’t treat romance as something that is always perfect. The film is more interested in the complications that come with caring for someone. Some of the conversations feel simple, but they are also the kind of moments that make the characters feel more believable.
At the same time, the film could have been tighter. A few portions take longer than necessary to get to the point, and the screenplay occasionally loses some momentum. The emotional payoff also depends a lot on how invested you are in the characters.
