Top Gun 3:

Joseph Kosinski may just be gearing up to take Maverick on one last ride. In a revealing interview, the Top Gun director confirmed he’s actively writing a third installment — and it won’t be just another high-octane jet-fueled thrill ride.
Kosinski says the story they’re developing is bigger. Not just in terms of spectacle, but emotionally: he teases an “existential crisis” for Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a question so profound that it could make him feel small in comparison. This won’t be about fast jets alone — there’s a deeper arc at play.
He didn’t mince words: “There’s still more story to tell for him. There’s one last ride. So we’re working on it now.” And penning the script? Ehren Kruger, his collaborator from Maverick (and his recent F1 film).
What’s especially compelling is the sense of closure. Kosinski hints that this could well be Maverick’s final mission — a fitting way to wrap up an iconic character. But he’s also cautious: they’ll only move forward if the story feels strong enough.
Too early for casting or a release date, but for fans of Maverick, this feels like more than just a sequel — it’s the emotional send-off he deserves.
