Hacks:
Well, folks, the end is now officially in sight for Hacks, and honestly, it’s already kind of emotional.
Check out this just-released poster announcing the final season, which promises to be a big one. It’s not loud, flashy, or in-your-face, but it says a lot. First off, there’s a kind of tension in this thing… the kind that longtime fans are going to instantly recognize.
Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels may be standing side by side in this photo, but they almost seem like they’re standing on opposite sides of something, and if you’ve been paying attention to their journey up to this point, you’re going to know what I mean.
What has always set Hacks apart from so many other shows is just how real it feels, even with all the wit and humor flying back and forth. Yes, it’s got all the wit and humor, but it’s also got a lot of heart, and what has always been at the center of this show is the complicated, often messy, often toxic, but always kind of necessary relationship between Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels.
And now, with the show gearing up to head into its final season (which debuts April 9 on HBO Max), it feels like everything is on the line, and there’s going to be unfinished business, unspoken truths, and maybe even a few emotional blows to the gut when we least expect it.
Will Deborah Vance finally find a kind of success that doesn’t cost her everything? Will Ava find a way to step outside of this chaos and find her own voice? Or are they just destined to continue to butt heads, no matter how much they need each other?
If this poster is any kind of indication, this is a final season that’s going to be less about laughter and more about tears.
