Toaster Movie Review: I don’t fully get it… but I didn’t hate it either

Toaster Movie Review

Toaster is now on Netflix and yeah… I went in kinda confused already because of the title. Like, what even is this supposed to be about? And honestly, even after watching it, I’m still a little like… okay??

Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, the movie doesn’t really stick to one mood. It keeps jumping—funny, then serious, then slightly weird for no reason. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just feels messy.

Rajkummar Rao is basically the reason I kept watching. He just has that thing where even if the scene is odd, he makes it feel watchable. Sanya Malhotra is more grounded, which helps because the film itself isn’t always.

Archana Puran Singh goes full energy mode—like really loud and dramatic. It works in some scenes, but yeah, a bit much in others. Abhishek Banerjee is actually fun to watch here, he brings that unpredictable vibe.

Farah Khan showing up was kinda random but also fits the chaos somehow?? Didn’t expect it, didn’t hate it. Upendra Limaye and Jitendra Joshi are solid, nothing flashy but they do their part well. And Seema Pahwa—she just brings that natural warmth, like she always does.

The story though… yeah, it’s not very tight. Feels like it’s going in different directions and not fully committing to any. Some parts drag, and a few moments feel like they’re trying too hard to be quirky.

But weirdly, I wasn’t bored. Like I did think about stopping once or twice, but I didn’t. It’s that kind of movie.

Final thought:
Not amazing, not terrible. Just… kinda weird, slightly messy, but still watchable if you’re in the mood for something different and don’t expect it to fully make sense.
