June 25: Peddi locks its target release date

Peddi:

The film Peddi, which was initially scheduled for release in March, was later pushed to April 30. However, that too didn’t materialize. The makers then confirmed a June release, though they didn’t specify an exact date. Naturally, all eyes turned to June 4, which was the release date of Toxic. It was widely assumed that Toxic might get postponed, allowing Peddi to take advantage of that date. The Peddi team was also reportedly waiting for the same.

However, it now appears that the makers have changed their plan again. They have reportedly fixed June 25 as the new release date. An official announcement is expected by the end of this month.

June 25 seems like the right choice for several reasons. By then, Toxic would have already released and completed its initial run, giving Peddi a solo release window on a pan-India level. Additionally, there will be no IPL frenzy around that time. With nearly two months in hand, the team will have enough time for post-production and promotions. Since Peddi needs to be promoted on a pan-India scale, nationwide press meets and media interactions are essential to build buzz, which requires time. Hence, the team feels June 25 is a better option than June 4.

Moreover, A. R. Rahman is composing the background score, and he typically takes more time for his work. This schedule allows him the time he needs. So, the June 25 release for Peddi is almost confirmed, with only the official announcement pending.

The makers also revealed that six days of shooting are still left. Out of these, two days were allocated for the song “Rai.. Rai Raara,” which has now been completed. The remaining four days will be used to shoot an item song, which will begin soon.
