Soul Trip Review: feels like a chill drive with people you didn’t expect to open up this much

Soul Trip:

At first glance, Soul Trip looks like just another celebrity travel show — scenic drives, familiar faces, and safe, predictable conversations. But it slowly reveals itself to be something a bit more personal and unfiltered.

The whole setup is pretty simple: road trips + conversations. But the way it’s done feels less like an “interview show” and more like you’re just sitting in the backseat listening in. It’s not overly structured, and honestly, that works in its favor.

Vijay Datla as the host keeps things easygoing. He doesn’t push too hard, doesn’t try to be flashy — just lets people talk. Sometimes there are pauses, sometimes conversations drift, but that’s kind of what makes it feel real. Not everything is wrapped up neatly, and that’s refreshing.

The guests are where the show really clicks. Jagapathi Babu especially — he comes across way more reflective than you’d expect. There are moments where he just casually drops thoughts about life and career that don’t feel rehearsed at all. Srikanth brings a slightly nostalgic vibe, like revisiting phases of his journey without overdramatizing it. And Varsha Bollamma adds a softer, more present-day perspective — her segments feel lighter but still genuine.

Visually, yeah, it’s nice. Scenic locations, long drives, all that. But the show doesn’t shove those visuals in your face constantly. It kind of lets the background breathe while conversations take the front seat. There are stretches where not much “happens,” but somehow you don’t feel like skipping.

That said, it’s not perfect. Some episodes feel a bit slow, like they could’ve trimmed a few minutes. And if you’re expecting big revelations or dramatic moments, you might feel it’s too mellow. It’s more about small, honest bits than anything explosive.

Overall though, Soul Trip works because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s calm, a little raw, sometimes uneven — but in a good way. Feels like something you watch when you’re not in a rush, just want to listen to people being… normal for once.
