Citadel Season 2 Review: Bigger, Louder… but does it actually hit?

Citadel Season 2:

Citadel is back with Season 2, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in pretty much every major language — English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam.

And honestly… this season feels like it really wants to be bigger than before. More action, more twists, more scale. But does it all land?

Hmm… mixed feelings.
The story continues with that whole spy-world chaos — secret agencies, betrayals, memory stuff, hidden identities… the usual Citadel setup. It tries to go deeper this time, especially with the characters and their pasts. Some parts actually work, some just feel like they’re trying too hard to be “smart.”

Richard Madden is solid again. He carries that intense, serious vibe well. Priyanka Chopra Jonas definitely gets more to do this season, and she’s honestly one of the better parts of the show. Their chemistry is… okay-ish. Not bad, but not something you’ll remember for long either.

Then you’ve got Stanley Tucci — and yeah, he just does his thing. Calm, controlled, kind of steals scenes without even trying.

Lesley Manville adds a strong presence too.
Direction-wise, with names like Joe Russo, David Weil, and Greg Yaitanes involved, you’d expect something super tight. And visually, yeah — it looks expensive. Big locations, slick action scenes, everything polished.

But here’s the thing… sometimes it feels like style over substance.

There are moments where you’re like “okay, this is cool,” especially during action sequences. But then the plot jumps around, twists come in too fast, and you kind of stop caring after a point. It’s not boring… just a bit exhausting.

Also, that emotional connect? Still not fully there. You watch it, you enjoy parts of it, but it doesn’t really stay with you.

That said, if you liked Season 1, you’ll probably still watch this. It’s easy binge material. Not
amazing, not terrible — just somewhere in between.

Final vibe:

Good scale ✔️
Decent performances ✔️
Messy storytelling ❌

It’s one of those shows you finish… and then go, “okay, that was fine.”
