Amazon Prime Video Lawsuit:

Amazon is in trouble with the law in Australia because of the ads they put on Prime Video. They want people to pay money to not see these ads. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is very serious about this. They took Amazon to the Federal Court.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says that Amazon did some things that were not fair to their customers. They changed the way Prime Video works without telling people. They did this after people had already paid for their Prime membership. One million people in Australia were affected by this between November 2023 and August 2025.
This all started in 2024 when Amazon began showing ads on Prime Video in Australia. They did not tell their customers about this beforehand. So around 850,000 people who had already paid for Prime had to watch these ads unless they paid money to not see them.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission thinks this is not fair and that Amazon did not respect the rights of their customers. They want the Federal Court to make Amazon pay back the people who were affected.
Amazon says they are looking at the case carefully and they will work with the investigators. An Amazon Australia spokesperson said this in response to the lawsuit. Amazon will cooperate fully with the investigation. Prime Video is still available in Australia. The issue, with the ads is what Amazon is dealing with right now. Amazon and Prime Video are the ones having to answer to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
