Karakkam Review:

Not every horror movie is trying to scare you all the time. Some horror movies want to make you laugh and have fun with music and spooky moments. Karakkam, which is now streaming on Sony LIV is like that. This Malayalam movie was directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian. He mixed comedy, horror and music together to make a hearted movie that is more fun to watch than a really scary horror movie.
The story is about some people who get caught up in some supernatural things. As they try to figure out what is going on they have some moments meet some quirky people and see some eerie things. This movie does not take itself seriously. Of just trying to scare you Karakkam keeps you interested with its weird mix of comedy, horror and music.
Sreenath Bhasi is really good in this movie. He is funny. Has a lot of charm on screen. Shaun Romy does a job and works well with the rest of the actors. Femina George, Manikandan R. Achari, Sidharth Bharathan, Jean Paul Lal, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Bijukuttan, Praveen T.J. And Midhutty all do a job and make the movie feel fun and lively.
Director Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian made sure the movie was fun from start to finish. The scary parts are there. They do not overpower the funny parts. The music is a part of the story and adds more energy to the movie.
The background music is good at switching between funny moments. The cinematography is also good at showing the spooky places. There are a few slow parts and some jokes do not work well as they could.. The movie gets back on track quickly.
One of the things about Karakkam is that it is not trying to be too complicated. It just wants to be a movie, with suspense, humor and catchy music. If you want a scary horror movie you might not find it here.. If you want something different that mixes comedy, music and supernatural thrills Karakkam is a good choice.
Overall Karakkam is a movie to watch on the weekend. It mixes comedy, music and supernatural thrills well. It might not be the horror movie but it is fun and worth watching on Sony LIV.
