Parimala and Co:
I just finished watching Parimala and Co on ZEE5, and honestly, my brain is still trying to process the absolute madness I just witnessed. I went in expecting a standard comedy, but this is a proper black comedy thriller. It’s dark, it’s weird, and it is incredibly funny in the most unexpected ways.
If you like movies where everything that can go wrong goes hilariously wrong, you need to stream this one immediately.
What is it actually about?
The movie is written and directed by Pandiraaj, which surprised me because he’s usually known for more traditional family dramas. This time, he went completely off the rails in the best way possible. The plot is essentially a massive, twisted puzzle where a bunch of completely different characters get tangled up in a dangerous, accidental mess. It has that fast-paced, breathless energy where one bad decision leads to ten more.
The Cast is Next Level
Honestly, the main reason to watch this movie is the ensemble cast. They threw so many talented, chaotic people together, and the chemistry is just gold:
Jayaram and Urvashi: These two are absolute legends for a reason. Their comic timing is so effortless. Every time they are on screen together, they completely steal the show. Urvashi especially had me laughing out loud with just her facial expressions.
Yogi Babu and Sandy: You already know what you’re getting with Yogi Babu, but pairing him up with Sandy (the choreographer/actor) was a genius move. Their back-and-forth banter feels so unscripted and natural.
Mysskin: Seeing Mysskin—who usually directs super serious, dark crime movies—acting in a quirky black comedy like this is just a trip. He plays his character with this deadpan seriousness that makes the comedy even funnier.
The Young Gen: Santosh Sobhan, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, and Ananthika Sanilkumar do a really solid job anchoring the plot amidst all the veteran actors. They bring a grounded energy that keeps the movie from flying completely off the handle.
The Good and the Bad
The best part about the film is the dialogue and the situations. The humor is dark, so you’re sometimes laughing at things you probably shouldn’t be laughing at. It keeps you guessing, and the thriller element actually has some genuine tension.
On the downside, because there are so many characters, a few subplots get a bit rushed in the middle. The first half is a bit of a slow build to set up all the different players, so you have to give it about twenty minutes to really kick into high gear.
The Final Verdict
Parimala and Co is a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, the performances are top-notch, and it’s just a super fun, chaotic watch. If you have a ZEE5 subscription and want something light but gripping for your movie night, definitely give this one a shot.
