20 months for Peddi… quite the big task!

Peddi:

As expected, Peddi has been postponed. The makers officially announced that the film will not be releasing on April 30. They said it will come out in June instead. But here’s the twist — they still haven’t revealed the exact release date. Which date in June they’re targeting remains a mystery.

Now this puts other films planning a June release in a dilemma. They may have to step aside for Peddi. Since the release was already postponed, it would’ve been better if they had at least announced a clear new date this time — but that didn’t happen.

The film started in November 2024 and is now aiming for a June 2026 release. That means it has taken around 20 months of shooting. It feels like director Buchi Babu Sana might be following his mentor Sukumar in terms of crafting films slowly and carefully. Sukumar is known for taking his time, and it looks like his student isn’t holding back either.

Of course, a Ram Charan film demands that level of effort. But for younger directors to take this much time does raise some eyebrows.

The producers don’t seem to be compromising anywhere in the making of Peddi, which could explain the long timeline. Still, it would’ve helped if the team had shared an update on how much of the shoot is done and how much is left.

While the makers clarified the postponement, they could’ve avoided all this uncertainty by simply announcing a proper release date. Fans would’ve been much more relaxed. For now, saying “June” without a specific date just keeps the suspense going.
