Bradley Cooper

Another heist is coming—this time with a star-studded origin story.
Bradley Cooper is currently in negotiations to star opposite Margot Robbie in the upcoming Ocean’s prequel, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Twisters). The film is expected to begin production next year and will serve as a stylish throwback to the origins of the iconic Ocean’s franchise.
Details are still under wraps, but the project has been described as a romantic, high-stakes heist set in 1960s Europe, giving the sleek, fast-talking world of con artists and master thieves a vintage spin.
Margot Robbie has been attached to the project since 2022, both starring and producing alongside her Barbie co-producer Tom Ackerley. With Cooper potentially coming on board, the casting signals major star power for the film, which aims to reimagine the charm and swagger that made the Ocean’s Eleven series a global hit.
If confirmed, this would mark Cooper’s first entry into the Ocean’s universe and his latest collaboration with a major director. His recent work includes Maestro and the upcoming Is This Thing On?, which he’s also directing.
Director Lee Isaac Chung, known for his emotionally rich storytelling in Minari and his action-packed pivot with Twisters, brings a unique creative voice to the project—hinting that this prequel may have both heart and adrenaline in equal measure.
The Ocean’s franchise has long been a fan favorite, beginning with Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 reboot starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts, and later expanding with Ocean’s 8 led by Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. This new prequel looks to explore how it all began, with a fresh cast and a retro-cool aesthetic.
With filming slated to begin in 2026, expect more details—and big casting announcements—to drop soon. But one thing’s clear: if Bradley Cooper signs on, the stakes (and the charm) are about to go way up.
