DC:

DC has done it! Lokesh Kanagaraj’s latest film has now crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide, adding another successful Tamil film to an already interesting box-office year.
The film had a relatively modest start, but things changed quickly once the audience word of mouth started spreading. DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, has managed to build momentum steadily, and that is what has taken it into the ₹100 crore club.
What makes this achievement interesting is the list of Tamil films that have already reached the milestone this year. Suriya’s Karuppu, Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons have all made their mark at the box office. Now DC has joined them, making it another notable ₹100 crore grosser of 2026.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC is also special because it marks Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut. The film initially didn’t have massive pre-release hype, but the positive response from audiences helped it pick up pace after release.
The movie has particularly benefited from strong word of mouth. Instead of depending only on a huge opening, DC kept adding numbers over the following days. Even its second weekend showed impressive hold, with the film grossing ₹84.31 crore worldwide by the end of the second weekend according to trade reports.
For Lokesh Kanagaraj, this is another interesting milestone, but this time he is achieving it as an actor rather than a director. That makes the success of DC even more noticeable.
With Karuppu, Jana Nayagan, Vishwanath And Sons and now DC making it past ₹100 crore, 2026 is turning out to be a pretty interesting year for Tamil cinema at the box office.
And honestly, DC reaching the ₹100 crore club after starting with limited buzz is a solid achievement. The audience word of mouth has clearly done its job.
