Emma Stone is giving fans something they didn’t expect—but absolutely love—in the first trailer for Bugonia, the latest surreal creation from director Yorgos Lanthimos.
In one standout moment, Stone is seen singing along to Chappell Roan’s breakout hit “Good Luck, Babe!” as it plays over a dreamlike sequence. The unexpected pop moment has already taken the internet by storm, blending Lanthimos’ signature strangeness with one of this year’s most talked-about songs.
It’s no coincidence either—Stone has previously expressed her love for Chappell Roan, even mentioning in interviews that she “constantly listens” to the rising pop star’s music. Now, that admiration has made its way on-screen.
Set in a not-so-distant future, Bugonia follows two American women who travel to a remote village in an attempt to rescue a friend caught in what they believe is a dangerous cult. But as with all things Lanthimos, nothing is quite as it seems. The film promises dark humor, eerie visuals, and plenty of bizarre twists.

This marks another major collaboration between Stone and Lanthimos, following their critically acclaimed work on The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. But Bugonia might be their most unconventional outing yet—especially with a soundtrack that includes modern queer anthems.
Chappell Roan, who has rapidly become a Gen Z icon, is known for her vibrant pop sound and empowering lyrics. “Good Luck, Babe!” has become a defining track of 2025, and its inclusion in Bugonia only adds to its cultural moment.
The trailer teases just enough to intrigue—Emma Stone singing, cult-like mystery, and Lanthimos’ signature unsettling flair. In other words: it’s everything fans could hope for.
Bugonia premieres later this year, and if the trailer is any indication, it’s going to be one wild ride.
