Gen V cancelled… but it’s not really the end

Gen V:

Gen V cancelled, Gen V Season 2, The Boys Season 5, Gen V cast, Eric Kripke, Vought Cinematic Universe, Prime Video shows, The Boys spin-offGen V:

After two seasons, Gen V has officially been cancelled by Prime Video. Not exactly what fans wanted to hear, especially since the show was just starting to build its own space.

If you watched it, you know Gen V wasn’t just some random spin-off. It had that same messy, violent, slightly insane vibe of The Boys, but with a younger cast and more campus chaos. And honestly, it worked.

But here’s where it gets interesting — and also a bit less depressing.

In a statement, the show’s executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg basically said: yeah, Gen V as a separate show is done… but the characters are not going anywhere.
They straight up mentioned that these characters will continue in The Boys Season 5 and other upcoming projects in their universe (they call it VCU). So it’s not a full stop. More like… everything is merging back into the main story.
Still, it does feel a bit sudden.

Like, the whole Godolkin University setup had more stories left. It wasn’t fully explored. Some character arcs were just getting interesting. So cancelling it now feels a little early.

At the same time, maybe this was always the plan? To connect everything back into The Boys instead of running too many separate shows. Could be a creative decision… or just a practical one.

Fans are probably going to have mixed reactions. Some will be disappointed it’s ending. Others might be okay if the characters actually get bigger roles in the main series.

End of the day, Gen V didn’t completely die… it just got absorbed.

Let’s see how they handle it in The Boys next. Because if they mess that up, then yeah — people will definitely not be happy.
