KING vs Avengers vs Dune: Christmas 2026 Is Turning Into a Box Office Battlefield

KING:

So yeah, Christmas 2026 is already looking kind of chaotic — and a lot of that noise is because of King.

With Shah Rukh Khan leading the film, King is aiming for a December 24 release. That date alone is prime territory. SRK + Christmas has always been a strong combo, and when he shows up, theaters usually clear space. But this time, it’s not going to be that simple.

Because just days before that, Hollywood is rolling in with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3 — both expected to hit screens in mid-December. These aren’t small films you can just squeeze into a few shows. They demand scale.

Coming back to King, it’s being directed by Siddharth Anand — the same guy behind big, glossy action films like Pathaan and War. So you can already guess the tone here: slick, high-energy, very much designed for big screens.

As for the cast, it’s not just SRK carrying the film. His daughter Suhana Khan is part of the lineup, which adds its own curiosity factor. There’s also Abhishek Bachchan reportedly playing a key role. So yeah, it’s not a small, quiet project — it’s clearly being positioned as a major release.

Now here’s where things get tricky.

Christmas in India is basically a goldmine for movie business. Everyone’s out, people are in the mood to spend, and big films usually clean up. But there are only so many screens. Multiplex chains can’t fully commit to three massive films at once without someone losing out.

And the overlap in audience is real now. It’s not like “Bollywood fans vs Hollywood fans” anymore. The same crowd that’s excited to see SRK in an action role is also waiting for the next Avengers spectacle. And Dune has quietly built a serious fanbase too.

So theaters are going to have to make some uncomfortable choices. Do they give King the lion’s share because it’s SRK on home turf? Or do they balance things out because Marvel films tend to pull in consistent crowds across cities?

There’s always a chance someone moves their release date — it happens all the time when things start looking too crowded. But if nobody backs off, Christmas 2026 might feel less like a holiday weekend and more like a full-on box office clash.

And honestly, that could go either way. It could split audiences… or it could just turn into one of the biggest movie-going periods in recent years.

Either way, King isn’t arriving quietly. It’s stepping right into the middle of the storm.
