LIK:
The overseas run of #LIK is off to a pretty shaky start, and honestly, it’s not the kind of opening the team would’ve been hoping for.
Directed by Vignesh Shivan, and featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, S. J. Suryah, Krithi Shetty, and Seeman, the Tamil film has managed to collect around $1.003M (approx ₹9.3 Cr) in its first 3 days overseas.
On paper, the buzz before release felt decent. Big names, solid combo casting, and a director known for his stylish storytelling — so expectations weren’t exactly low. But the numbers so far tell a more uncomfortable story.
The film is reportedly carrying a pre-release breakeven target of around ₹22 Cr, and after three days it has only recovered about 42% of that. That gap is already looking hard to ignore this early into the run.
What’s more worrying is that there hasn’t really been any strong upward spike. The usual hope with overseas releases is that word-of-mouth kicks in by day 2 or 3 and gives a lift over the weekend. But here, the trend has stayed pretty flat, and that’s never a great sign for recovery.
At this point, unless there’s a noticeable turnaround in the coming days, #LIK is heading towards a fairly steep deficit territory — possibly even close to half the target not being recovered.
It’s still early, yes, but overseas box office doesn’t usually wait too long. And right now, #LIK is already under pressure to find momentum fast.
