Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil Netflix movie review:

This is one of those Malayalam films that starts off feeling very normal… and then slowly drags you into a situation that keeps getting more awkward, funny, and tense at the same time.
Now streaming on Netflix
from May 13, the film has quietly landed on OTT with multi-language support — available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu as well.
Directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, the movie stars Kunchacko Boban, Dileesh Pothan, Sajin Gopu, Chidambaram S. Poduval, Sharanya R Nair, Jaffer Idukki, Rajesh Madhavan, and Sudheesh.
At its core, the story is simple: a quiet, timid health worker’s life gets completely disturbed when a stranger enters his home, and suddenly everything starts spiraling into secrets, suspicion, and very uncomfortable situations. It’s part mystery, part thriller, and part dark comedy — but it doesn’t always sit neatly in one genre, which is kind of the point.
The film works best in its awkward silence moments. There’s this constant feeling that something is slightly off, even when nothing big is happening. That slow-burn tension is what keeps you watching. And then randomly, it throws in a comedic beat that catches you off guard.
Kunchacko Boban is easily the anchor here. His performance feels very natural, almost too normal for the madness happening around him. Dileesh Pothan and Sajin Gopu add a strange balance of seriousness and unpredictability, while the supporting cast fills the world with that grounded village realism Malayalam cinema does so well.
But honestly, this isn’t a “clean” film in terms of structure. It drifts a bit, and some parts feel intentionally messy. Still, that messiness also feels like part of its identity — like the film doesn’t want to explain everything properly.
Overall:
Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil is not a straight thriller or a full comedy. It’s somewhere in between — a weird, unpredictable mix that works if you go with its flow and don’t expect neat answers.
Not for everyone, but definitely interesting enough to watch once just for the experience.
