Prabhas’ Fauji Races for December Release — Is a Netflix Deal Driving the Deadline?

Strong buzz in Tollywood suggests that the makers of Prabhas’ upcoming film Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, are speeding up production with the aim of releasing the film in December. According to industry discussions, the primary reason behind the rush may not be the box office, but an OTT agreement.

Reports indicate that Netflix has already acquired the digital streaming rights for Fauji. Industry sources claim that the agreement includes a clause requiring the film to release in December and be delivered to the streaming platform within a specified timeframe. If the release is delayed, the deal could reportedly be affected, or the agreed licensing amount may be reduced.

As a result, the producers are said to be focusing on completing the shoot without interruptions. The plan is to wrap up the remaining schedules as quickly as possible and immediately begin post-production. Sources say every department is working at full pace to ensure the film does not miss its targeted December release.

In recent years, OTT agreements have become a major factor in deciding release dates for big-budget films. With digital rights generating significant revenue alongside theatrical collections, producers are carefully planning production schedules to avoid disrupting such deals. Industry circles believe Fauji, starring Prabhas and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is also following the same strategy.
