‘Queen 2’ Lands in Legal Trouble: Phantom Studios Sues JioHotstar for ₹250 Crore

Kangana Ranaut’s iconic film Queen, which earned her nationwide recognition, is back in the headlines. This time, however, it’s not because of the film itself, but due to a legal dispute surrounding its sequel. The rights issue over Queen 2 has now reached the Bombay High Court.

Phantom Studios has filed a lawsuit against JioHotstar, alleging that the sequel is being developed without its consent. The production house has sought ₹250 crore in damages and compensation, claiming that it owns 50% of the rights to the 2014 film Queen, including the sequel rights.

According to reports, Phantom Studios held several discussions with JioHotstar over the issue, but the talks failed to produce a resolution. Left with no alternative, the company approached the Bombay High Court. In its petition, Phantom has reportedly argued that proceeding with the sequel before the ownership dispute is resolved is unlawful.

Queen remains one of the most defining films of Kangana Ranaut’s career, making the legal battle over its sequel a major talking point in Bollywood. The industry is now closely watching how the Bombay High Court will rule on the high-profile rights dispute.
