Raghava Lawrence as Karna in Mahaveer Karna is here finally, and that’s sure a sight worth catching.
It’s Lawrence’s debut in the world of Mahabharata, where he will be seen in the role of the great Karna in an upcoming Pan-Indian mythological film by director Ramesh Varma who is popular with his movies such as Rakshasudu and Khiladi.
The new posters reveal the totally different avatar of Lawrence, who can be seen with long hair, Surya mark on his forehead, golden earrings, and warrior’s armor.

The tagline in the posters says, “Born a Hero. Destined a Legend.”
And this isn’t being presented as a regular period film. Mahaveer Karna is being described as an epic live-action saga, with the makers also using a hybrid live-action format and extensive VFX. Ramji Dott is credited as the Hybrid Creator.
The film is being made in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages, thus a complete pan-Indian project.
The people behind this film are Pen Movies, Sri Neeladri Productions and RV Filmhouse and Jayantilal Gada presenting this film. Gnaani has been assigned to provide music for the film, while Sree Mani has penned the dialogues.
There was already a lot of curiosity associated with the film after the arrival of the title teaser of the film in August 2026. The film was initially announced with a release date of December 4, 2026 worldwide. But now the latest posters have the release date as 2027.
Lawrence too has talked about the film stating that he never thought there would be a script like this and thanking the director Ramesh Varma for casting him in the film.

For Lawrence, playing Karna is clearly a major change of pace. And with the scale, mythology and VFX involved, Mahaveer Karna is shaping up to be one of those projects that will be watched closely as more footage starts coming out.
For now, though, the first look has given fans their first proper glimpse of Lawrence as Karna — and there’s definitely more to come.
