I still remember when people thought it was crazy that a movie star could get paid ₹10 crore. This was back in the 1990s. Actors like Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi were deals because they got around ₹1 crore per movie. That was a lot of money at the time.
Over the ten years Indian movies. Especially the ones from South India. Have become really big. Stars like Rajinikanth, Yash and Allu Arjun have gotten over ₹200 crore for one project.. Now in 2026 Ranveer Singh has broken all records.

Ranveer Singh is now the earning Indian actor from just one project thanks to his hit movie Dhurandhar. Of getting a fixed salary Ranveer Singh chose to share the profits. This decision really paid off for Ranveer Singh.
The two-part movie Dhurandhar became a hit all around the world. It made ₹3,200 crore worldwide. ₹1,900 Crore in India alone. What is really amazing is that Ranveer Singh did not get any money upfront for the project Dhurandhar.
Ranveer Singh signed a deal to get a share of the profits from Dhurandhar. He even put in some of his money when the costs of making Dhurandhar went up. So Ranveer Singhs share of the profits from Dhurandhar grew a lot.

According to movie trade reports Ranveer Singh made a total of ₹325 crore from bonuses, digital rights, satellite rights and music rights for Dhurandhar. Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios got a share of the profits from Dhurandhar but Ranveer Singhs payout is still the highest ever for an Indian actor from one project.
Until now Rajinikanth held the record. He made around ₹250 crore for the movie Jailer. Other big stars like Allu Arjun for Pushpa 2 and Prabhas for Kalki 2898 AD have also made over ₹200 crore. Shah Rukh Khan made around ₹200 crore each for the movies Jawan and Pathaan in 2023.
Now Ranveer Singh has broken all these records with ₹325 crore from Dhurandhar. Ranveer Singh is now the paid actor in Indian movie history, for one project.
