Rashmika Mandanna Steps Into M.S. Subbulakshmi’s Shoes! Biopic Begins With Kamal Haasan’s First Clap

The awaited biopic on Carnatic legend M.S Subbulakshmi has finally kicked off. The film starring Rashmika Mandanna in lead role has started its shooting process which has marked the commencement of yet another fascinating biopic venture in Indian films.

There’s a special happening on the set of the film. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan visited the unit and gave the ceremonial first clap to the opening shot scene of Rashmika who is seen dancing in the shot.

The film is titled ‘M.S – A Legacy On Screen’ and is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, director of films like ‘Jersey’. Music for the project will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the project will be produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vas. The film is planned as pan India project.

Obviously, this is not going to be an easy feat for Rashmika. Being able to play an icon of this sort comes with certain expectations, mainly since the role of M.S. Also, Kamal Haasan underlined the responsibility involved in the depiction of an icon of M.S. Subbulakshmi. Indeed, he compared the role to one of an internationally known icon such as Michael Jackson and stressed that compassion and personality of the artist were very important.

M.S. Subbulakshmi was not only a very well-known singer but also a world-renowned Indian classical musician, an international performer and recipient of the Bharat Ratna. She was also the first Indian musician to perform in the United Nations General Assembly.
