Ridley Scott Teases More Alien and Gladiator: “Gladiator Is in Process… Alien? If I Get an Idea, For Sure”

Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott isn’t ready to close the book on two of his most iconic franchises. While promoting his latest projects, the Alien and Gladiator director dropped a few tantalizing hints about what could be next—and fans have reason to get excited.

When asked about the future of the Alien prequel series, Scott kept the door wide open.

“Another Alien prequel – yeah, if I get an idea, for sure,” he said.

Scott has already helmed two Alien prequels—Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017)—which explored the origins of the infamous Xenomorphs and the mysterious Engineers. Though plans for a third chapter seemed to stall, Scott’s latest comment suggests he’s not done with the franchise just yet.

And that’s not all. Scott confirmed that Gladiator 2 is well underway.

“Gladiator is in process right now,” he revealed.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2000 Oscar-winning epic stars Paul Mescal (Normal People), with a cast that includes Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington. Though plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to continue the legacy of Maximus through the eyes of a new generation.

While Scott didn’t confirm concrete plans for a third Alien prequel, his willingness to return to the universe—if the idea is right—leaves plenty of room for speculation. After all, this is the director who redefined both historical epics and sci-fi horror.

So, whether it’s ancient Rome or deep space, Ridley Scott might not be finished just yet.
