Shesha:
Shesha, the Kannada thriller that released earlier this year without much noise, is now heading to OTT. The film will start streaming on Sun NXT from May 22. What’s interesting is that the Malayalam version will also be available together on the platform.
The film is directed by Pradeep Arsikere and stars John Kaippallil, Pramod Shetty, Archana Kottige and veteran actor Devaraj in major roles.
Released in theatres on March 6, 2026, Shesha was made as a bilingual project and shot simultaneously in Kannada and Malayalam. You can kind of see that mix in the casting too, with actors from both industries appearing in the film.
The movie didn’t really have a huge theatrical run or heavy buzz around it. It sort of came and went quietly for many people. But sometimes films like this end up doing better after OTT release, especially thrillers. People watch them late at night out of curiosity and suddenly there’s word-of-mouth around them.
From whatever reactions came after release, Shesha seems to lean more into a serious thriller mood instead of going for loud commercial stuff. So viewers who like slower mystery dramas may actually enjoy this one more on streaming than in theatres.
Now that it’s landing on OTT in both Kannada and Malayalam, the film probably has a better shot at reaching audiences who missed it the first time around.
