Spider-Noir cancelled:
Well, that’s bad news for fans of the Spider-Noir series.
Amazon Prime Video announced that it will not renew the Marvel series, featuring Nicolas Cage as a lead character, for another season. The decision was made several months after the release of the show on the streaming service.
The series made its premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on May 27, 2026, following the launch in MGM+. Spider-Noir introduced a completely different vision of the Spider-Man universe to live-action television – Nicolas Cage played a role of Ben Reilly, a washed-up private eye in 1930s New York.

The whole premise of the series was quite unusual. Unlike the common colorful superhero theme, Spider-Noir took a darker approach to detective stories of the 1930s. Viewers were able to watch the series in black-and-white or color format.

Other cast members include Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson.
The first season included eight episodes where the story of Ben Reilly revolved around handling his past and investigating criminal cases along with his past while getting pulled into dangerous cases involving criminals, strange threats and his old life as New York’s mysterious superhero, The Spider.
Despite the cancellation, the show wasn’t exactly a critical disaster. In fact, Spider-Noir received generally positive reviews and earned 11 Primetime Emmy nominations, making it one of Prime Video’s notable shows this year.
That makes the cancellation a little surprising.

So, what happened?
Amazon hasn’t publicly given a detailed reason for ending the series after one season. Streaming services regularly look at viewership, production costs, audience retention and overall performance before deciding whether a show gets another season.
Interestingly, Spider-Noir also seems to have worked reasonably well as a standalone story. Fans online have pointed out that Season 1 wrapped up its main story without leaving the kind of huge cliffhanger that would make the cancellation impossible to accept.
Still, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t disappointed. Some viewers were hoping to see more of Cage’s strange, gritty take on the Spider-Man universe.

You can still watch Season 1
The good news is that Spider-Noir hasn’t disappeared from Prime Video.
All eight episodes of Season 1 are still available to stream on Prime Video.
So if you haven’t watched it yet, you can still check out Nicolas Cage’s unusual take on Spider-Man. Just don’t go in expecting a Season 2 announcement at the end.
For now, Spider-Noir ends with Season 1, and that’s likely all we’re going to get from this particular version of the character.
