Student of the Year: After Dark OTT Release Date and Platform
Student of the Year: After Dark will start streaming on JioHotstar from November 13, 2026 under the Hotstar Specials banner.
Unlike the earlier films in the franchise, this series takes a thriller and murder mystery route. The makers are bringing a total of six episodes in the first season, making it an interesting option for viewers who enjoy short-format suspense dramas.
Student of the Year: After Dark Story and What to Expect
The original Student of the Year franchise introduced audiences to a world of wealthy students, competitive college life, friendships, romance and dramatic rivalries.
But Student of the Year: After Dark appears to be taking things in a very different direction.
In this case, the usual glittering school environment has a darker theme and a murder mystery with a lot of secrets and complex relationships as the focus of the storyline.
As expected, the series will delve into the darker aspects of student life where people are not always who they seem to be.
Given that suspense and mystery are central to the plot of the movie, it seems like it promises to be rather unusual compared to other movies of the same franchise.
There is still much that needs to remain unrevealed regarding the plot of the movie.
Student of the Year: After Dark Cast
The series features a young cast, with Shanaya Kapoor taking on an interesting challenge by portraying twin sisters.
Here are the key cast members:
Shanaya Kapoor as Aayesha and Aditi (double role)
Divik Sharma
Manya Grover
Mannat Duggal
Shanaya Kapoor’s double role is definitely one of the major talking points. It will be interesting to see how the two characters are presented and what role they play in the overall murder mystery.
Who Is Behind Student of the Year: After Dark?
The series is directed by Reema Maya and produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta under the Dharmatic Entertainment banner.
Karan Johar’s involvement is particularly interesting, considering that he was also behind the original Student of the Year franchise.
However, this new series seems to be moving into a completely different storytelling space, with a stronger focus on suspense, dark themes and mystery.
Student of the Year: After Dark Total Episodes
The first season will have six episodes.
This shorter format could work well for a murder mystery, especially if the makers manage to keep the suspense alive throughout the season without stretching the story unnecessarily.
Student of the Year: After Dark OTT Release – Final Take
Student of the Year: After Dark looks like an interesting new direction for a franchise that audiences have mostly associated with romance, glamour and college drama.
A murder mystery set in a high-school environment, Shanaya Kapoor’s double role and Reema Maya’s direction give the series a few interesting elements to look forward to.
Whether it succeeds in being an engrossing thriller or just capitalizing on the appeal of the series will only time tell.
The best part about this is that people will not have to wait for long. Student of the Year: After Dark will air on JioHotstar on November 13, 2026. For those who like thrillers in Hindi, campus-based dramas, and murder mysteries, this could be a movie to keep an eye out for.
