The Tamil film industry is really sad because they lost one of the people who told stories. Veteran director, actor and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj passed away on Saturday. He was 73 years old when he died. This happened in Chennai after he had a heart problem. His death is very sad for his fans the people he worked with and everyone who loves movies.
K. Bhagyaraj was not a movie maker. He was a person who changed the way stories were shown on screen. People called him the “Screenplay King”. He had a way of telling stories that was funny, emotional and romantic. His movies were about people and that is what made them so good.
He started working in movies by helping a director named Bharathiraja. Then he became a writer, director and actor. K. Bhagyaraj made great movies for Tamil cinema. Some of these movies are Andha 7 Naatkal, Mundhanai Mudichu, Darling, Darling, Darling, Chinna Veedu and Enga Chinna Rasa. His way of telling stories inspired other movie makers and it still affects Tamil cinema today.
K. Bhagyaraj was also very good at acting and writing lines. In the last few years he was still active in the movie industry. He went to events and helped new people in the industry. He always loved movies.
K. Bhagyaraj is survived by his wife, actress Poornima Jayaram and their kids including actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. Many people in the movie industry and his fans are paying tribute to him. One thing is for sure: what K. Bhagyaraj did for cinema will never be forgotten.
K. Bhagyaraj may not be, with us anymore. The stories he told and the characters he created will keep entertaining people for a long time.
Rest in peace, legend. The things you did will always be remembered.
