Too Much to Watch, Too Little Time: This Week’s OTT Drops Are Kinda Wild

This week’s OTT:

There’s honestly a lot dropping on OTT this week, and it’s one of those rare weeks where almost every platform has something going on. Whether you’re into documentaries, anime, random reality stuff, or just want something easy to binge at night, there’s a bit of everything.

Starting with April 20, things are pretty chill. CoComelon Lane is back with Season 7 on Netflix — not exactly for everyone, unless you’ve got kids around or just want something mindless in the background. There’s also Kill Tony Mania, which feels more niche, more stand-up/comedy crowd territory.

April 21 is where it starts picking up. Unchosen is dropping in multiple Indian languages, which usually means Netflix is pushing it a bit harder. Then there’s another entry in the Untold series — this one about the Hawthorne Hill shooting — and those are usually solid if you like true crime. Also, a Japanese series called Reborn shows up, which might be worth checking if you’re into darker, dramatic stuff.

Prime Video is doing that thing again where they dump a bunch of rental titles on the same day — Jaunt, Kenneled, Late Shift, Protector, Mabel… honestly, these feel like those “maybe I’ll watch this someday” kind of movies. Not bad, just not urgent.

April 22 is stacked. There’s Lechindi Mahila Lokam on Sun NXT, which might grab regional audiences, and then Killing Grounds: The Gilgo Beach Murders — another true crime series, and yeah, this one could actually blow up if it’s done well. Netflix also has a mix of random but interesting stuff: a Hulk Hogan docuseries, a gardening show (yes, really), a Thai film, and even something about orangutans. It’s chaotic, but in a fun way.

April 23 feels very Netflix-heavy again. The big one is clearly Stranger Things: Tales from 85. Even though it’s not the main series, anything tied to Stranger Things is going to pull attention. There’s also Running Point Season 2 and a bunch of international titles that might quietly become sleeper hits.

By April 24, things get a bit more familiar with regional releases like Happy Raj, Band Melam, and Prathichaya. Then Netflix jumps back in with a mix of action and random catalog additions. Sonic 3: The Hedgehog stands out here — that’s probably going to be the easy pick for most people just looking for something fun.

April 25 is super light — just My Dress-Up Darling dropping, which anime fans will already know about.

And then April 26 brings 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. That title alone is doing a lot of work. If it connects even a little to the original 28 Days Later vibe, this could be the most talked-about release of the week.

Overall, this week feels less about one massive release and more about variety. Netflix is clearly dominating with sheer volume, but whether all of it is actually good… that’s another story. Still, if you’ve been saying “there’s nothing to watch,” this week kind of proves that wrong — you just have to dig a little.
