Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming Tamil film Baththa is already making some noise even before its theatrical release. The film has reportedly secured its digital streaming rights with Netflix, adding another interesting title to the actor’s growing lineup.
The deal comes after the massive success of Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja, which found a strong audience on Netflix and became a major talking point among OTT viewers. Now, all eyes are on whether Baththa can create a similar buzz.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 1. Netflix will stream the movie after its theatrical run.
There is another interesting aspect to Baththa. Bollywood production houses Star Studios and Cine1 Studios are entering Tamil cinema with this project. Their association with the film has added to the curiosity around it.
Atlee also continues to play an important role in building bridges between the Hindi and Tamil film industries, with Baththa being another example of Tamil cinema attracting major national production houses.
For now, Vijay Sethupathi fans have two dates to keep in mind — October 1 for the theatrical release, followed by its Netflix OTT premiere at a later date.
