Lock Upp Season 2:

Guys, if you’ve been seeing those random masked “prisoners” parading around the city lately and giant billboards with people locked behind bars, you aren’t hallucinating. The marketing team went absolutely crazy, but the secret is finally out.
Lock Upp is officially coming back for Season 2, and honestly, the updates are wild.
The Big Platform Switch
First of all, they are upgrading in a massive way. Season 1 aired on ALTBalaji and MX Player back in 2022, but this time, Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms has locked in a deal with Netflix. Yep, the gritty jail reality show is going global. Set your reminders because it officially premieres on June 27. Netflix dropped the announcement basically telling us to “Tareekh lock kar lo” (lock the date), and episodes will be dropping Saturday through Wednesday at 8 PM.
Kangana is Out, Enter Farah & Riteish
Okay, this is the biggest shocker. Kangana Ranaut was practically the face of the first season. Her whole intimidating jailer vibe was a huge reason the show worked so well and felt so unique. But with her intense political commitments taking up her time, she’s stepping down from hosting duties.
So who’s taking the baton? Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh.
Talk about a total vibe shift! Kangana was strict and scary, but Farah and Riteish are going to bring such a fun, chaotic energy to the show. Riteish has incredible comic timing but can definitely be firm when contestants cross the line (he was great hosting Bigg Boss Marathi), and Farah takes absolutely zero nonsense from anyone. I can already picture her scolding the inmates like a disappointed principal. It’s an unexpected duo, but it just might be the perfect recipe for reality TV gold.
What to Expect?
If you somehow missed the first season (where Munawar Faruqui ended up taking home the trophy), the concept is pretty intense. They put highly controversial celebrities in a makeshift, bare-bones jail, and they literally have to reveal their darkest, most personal secrets to survive eliminations and get basic amenities. It’s dramatic, raw, and super addictive.
With a Netflix budget and Ektaa Kapoor’s drama-filled brain behind the scenes, Season 2 is bound to be insane. The official list of “qaidis” (inmates) is still under wraps, but the rumor mill is already working overtime on who might be locked up.
June 27 can’t come fast enough. Let the countdown begin!
