Buchi Babu Sana Peddi:

Movies are a massive gamble. You shoot a scene, think it’s harmless, and then the internet absolutely shreds it once it hits screens. Director Buchi Babu Sana is basically living through that exact scenario right now with his film Peddi.
If you’ve scrolled through social media lately, you’ve probably seen the outrage over Janhvi Kapoor’s role. People are not happy. What was filmed as a light, breezy romance just felt incredibly uncomfortable to a lot of viewers, and the backlash has been loud.
Sana was genuinely stunned by the heat he’s getting. He spoke up recently about the whole mess, looking pretty caught off guard. “The idea was to showcase a playful romance,” he said. He really didn’t see the wave of anger coming at all.

Honestly, it happens. A romantic beat sounds great in a writing room but totally bombs when actual people watch it. Audiences today are sharp, and they just don’t let awkward or outdated character tropes slide anymore.
Give the guy some credit, though. A lot of directors throw massive tantrums or blame the viewers when their work gets flamed. Sana didn’t do that. He took the criticism on the chin, admitted he misjudged things, and promised to be “more careful” next time.
It takes guts to just own your mistakes publicly. Hopefully, he takes the feedback to heart and we get better-written characters from him moving forward.
