Young Sherlock Hits the Ground Running with a 100%

Not every television series debuts to critical acclaim. However, Young Sherlock is not like every television series. Prime Video’s latest drama series has launched to a flawless 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

While adaptations of the famous character of Sherlock Holmes are not uncommon, a new take on the legend is always a risk. However, it appears that the risk has paid off.

According to the critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes, Young Sherlock is fresh. This is largely due to the way in which the series handles the emotional depth of the character’s formative years without resorting to the genius-level intelligence that defines him. Instead of resorting to a teen drama spin-off of the character, the series is instead being praised for taking the character seriously and giving him depth.

While the 100% critical consensus is sure to change as more reviews are released, the message is clear. This is not simply another television series name-dropping the famous character. This is a series that is taking the character seriously and has ambitions.

Now the onus is on the audience. Will people take to the idea of a younger and developing form of the famous detective? If so, Prime Video has a potential hit on their hands.

For the time being, one thing is for sure. Young Sherlock is not simply a part of the conversation. It is commanding the conversation.
