Adults Season 2 Review:
If you thought the first season of Adults was chaotic, Season 2 basically says, “You haven’t seen anything yet.” The FX comedy is back with its gang of five twenty-somethings, and this time the show feels a lot more comfortable with what it wants to be.

The story once again follows Samir, Billie, Issa, Anton and Paul Baker as they try to figure out life, relationships, jobs and all the other confusing things that come with being in your twenties. Of course, they don’t exactly handle any of it like normal adults. That’s where most of the fun comes from.
Season 2 feels more confident than the first season. The characters already know each other, so there is less time spent introducing their personalities and more time letting them get into ridiculous situations. And honestly, that’s when the show works best.
There are plenty of wild moments this season, but underneath all the craziness, the show still has something relatable going on. These characters are technically adults, but most of them are still trying to understand what they’re doing with their lives. Careers aren’t going as planned, relationships get complicated and even simple decisions somehow turn into complete disasters.
One of the biggest strengths of the season is the chemistry between the cast. Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele work really well together. Their friendship feels messy and believable rather than like a perfectly written sitcom friendship.
Amita Rao continues to stand out as Issa, bringing a lot of energy to almost every scene. Owen Thiele’s Anton also gets some interesting moments this season, while Jack Innanen gets plenty of opportunities to make Paul Baker even more unpredictable. Lucy Freyer and Malik Elassal bring a little more emotional depth to Billie and Samir as their characters deal with their own problems.
The comedy is definitely not for everyone. Adults goes for awkward, weird and sometimes completely unhinged humour. There are moments where you might wonder, “Why are they doing this?” — and then you end up laughing anyway.
The good thing is that Season 2 doesn’t rely only on random jokes. There are genuine emotional moments between the characters too. The show understands that growing up isn’t some magical moment where everything suddenly becomes clear. Sometimes you’re just making bad decisions and hoping your friends are around when everything falls apart.
The eight-episode season is also quite fast. In fact, one of the only complaints is that it can feel too short. Just when you’re getting into the rhythm of the group, another episode is over.
Still, Season 2 is a noticeable improvement. The cast looks more comfortable, the friendships feel stronger and the comedy has found a better balance between complete chaos and actual character development. Critics have also highlighted the season’s stronger ensemble work and more mature storytelling.
Final Verdict
Adults Season 2 is not trying to be a serious coming-of-age drama. It is messy, silly, awkward and occasionally ridiculous — and that’s exactly why it works.
If you enjoyed Season 1, there is no reason to skip this one. And if you’re looking for a light, adult comedy about a group of friends who are still figuring life out, this is definitely worth adding to your weekend watchlist.
