Akka Review: Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte’s Powerful Performances Make This Netflix Thriller Worth Watching?

Akka Web Series Review:
Akka Web Series Review

Crime thrillers often become interesting when they have strong characters, hidden secrets and conflicts that slowly unfold. Akka, featuring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in lead roles, attempts to bring these elements together in a five-episode series. Directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the show is now streaming on Netflix in five languages. Does it manage to hold the audience’s attention? Let’s find out.

Story

Akka is set in a dark world, which involves issues of crime, power tussle, and personal vendettas. In Akka, various characters appear in the plot and their relationships and reasons for coming together are unveiled through the storyline.

As the plot unfolds, events get more entangled and result in confrontation. The TV series attempts to create suspense through some elements, while at times the development of other elements is easily predictable.

Performances

Keerthy Suresh is the major draw of Akka. She has great intensity as a performer and is very confident when she deals with serious situations. This is because she gets the chance to explore a new area through this performance.

Radhika Apte is just as good and contributes to the story. Her screen presence makes several scenes more engaging. The combination of these two performers is one of the series’ biggest strengths.

Tanvi Azmi delivers a dependable performance, while Aeklavya Tomer and Nisha Vishwakarma contribute to the story in their respective roles. The supporting cast does a reasonable job.

Technical Aspects

Dharmaraj Shetty, the director, tries to set a mood appropriate for a crime thriller. There are many interesting parts of the story, especially those where the characters find themselves in complicated situations.

But the story itself is not very interesting in all its parts. Some episodes are too slow, and a well-written screenplay would be more helpful. The five episodes format is one of the good aspects because the show is not long.

Plus Points

* Keerthy Suresh’s intense performance

* Radhika Apte’s screen presence

* Strong female characters

* Dark crime thriller atmosphere

* Interesting character conflicts

* Five-episode format

Minus Points

* Slow-paced portions in the narrative

* Some predictable developments

* Certain characters needed better exploration

* Not all twists create the expected impact

* Screenplay could have been tighter

Verdict

There are a number of positive points about Akka, especially with respect to the acting of Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. The dark setting and the conflicts within the characters provide a few entertaining moments in the series. Unfortunately, the predictability and some slowdowns hinder its potential to become an enthralling thriller.

In general, Akka can be recommended to people who like crime thrillers with a lot of women characters in their plots. While there is nothing new about it for the fans of the genre, it can still be worth watching.
