Ameer Log Review: A Raw, Desi Hyderabad Story That Keeps It Simple

Ameer Log

Ameer Log Movie Review: Some movies don’t come with big stars, huge sets or a lot of hype. They just tell a small story about ordinary people and try to keep things real. Ameer Log is pretty much that kind of film.

This Telugu drama has been directed by Soma Ramana Reddy and is all about a bunch of friends who spend their days in the streets of Hyderabad. Featuring actors like MC Hari, Vedha Jalandharr, Manoj Aavula, Ravan Nitturu, Pawon Ramesh, Viswender Reddy, Sasidhar, Vedashree and Sai Yogi in their respective roles, the movie aims at giving an insight of the local flavor rather than going for a conventional commercial movie plot.

What is Ameer Log about?

The plot is that of three best friends who spend most of their times doing nothing much other than hanging around, fighting among themselves and having fun while not being too serious.

All of this changes when they come across an opportunity related to biryani and business. From the beginning which was not so much in the first place gradually leads them to money, ambitions, troubles and differences among themselves.

Nothing too mysterious about this one as the plot does not involve too many complexities.

What works?

The biggest plus is the Hyderabad flavour.

Locations, slangs, conversations and the whole mood seem extremely authentic. There are many parts where the viewer will not think of it as if the scene is enacted by professionals. Rather, it seems that he or she is witnessing a group of locals chatting and goofing off.

Speaking of the characters’ relationship, it may also be highlighted that the chemistry between the main protagonists is really good.

Finally, there is also something interesting and local about the food and culture, including the way how biryani becomes an element of the plot.

What didn’t work well for the film?
It should be said that the movie starts pretty slow.

The first part of the film is mainly occupied by the introduction of the characters and their routine lives. While some of these parts are great, other scenes may probably be cut. Consequently, the rhythm of the movie is a bit inconsistent.

As for the second part, it is more intense, but the events can be called somewhat predictable. Even though the underlying idea is rather good, the film does not really impress the viewer with its originality.

Performances

The performances are fairly natural, which suits the film.

MC Hari, Manoj Aavula and Sasidhar fit well into their respective characters, especially in the scenes involving the friends together. Their chemistry is probably more important to the film than individual star performances.

Vedha Jalandharr and Viswender Reddy also make an impression, while Ravan Nitturu, Pawon Ramesh, Vedashree and Sai Yogi support the story well.

Nobody is trying to overdo things, and that works in the film’s favour.

Technical Aspects

It is definitely not made on a huge budget, but the directors use the locations quite well.

The locations make the film appear authentic and rooted in Hyderabad. The music and background score suit the atmosphere well, while the cinematography successfully captures the locations.

There is room for improvement when it comes to editing, as some parts of the film drag and could have been trimmed down.

Final Verdict

Ameer Log is not attempting to become a great entertainer film; instead, it is a small movie which focuses on characters rather than plot.

The plot itself is not anything new and the slow pace of the film might sometimes try your patience. However, if you like movies rooted in their location and do not want a complex story, there are positive aspects to consider here.

The strong Hyderabad vibe, natural performances and friendship angle are the film’s main positives.

Overall: A simple, fairly natural drama with plenty of Hyderabad flavour — not perfect, but worth checking out if you like grounded Telugu films.
