Athiradi Review: Just Pure Fun, No Headache, No Drama

Athiradi:

Athiradi is streaming now on SonyLIV in pretty much all languages—Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu. And yeah, it’s exactly the kind of film you put on when you don’t want to think too much and just chill.

This one is directed by Arun Anirudhan, and honestly, the movie knows very well what it is. It’s not trying to be serious or preachy or anything. It just goes full-on action + comedy mode and stays there.

Tovino Thomas carries most of the film with that easy, likeable energy he usually has. You don’t feel like he’s “acting too hard”—it all feels pretty natural. Then you’ve got Basil Joseph, who brings in that slightly crazy, funny vibe that keeps popping up in the right moments.

Vineeth Sreenivasan also gets his space, and he fits into the chaos nicely. Riya Shibu adds a fresh touch too, doesn’t feel forced or extra.

Story-wise, there’s nothing complicated here. It’s simple, a bit messy at times, but that kind of works for this film. It’s more about funny situations, random chaos, and action scenes that don’t take themselves too seriously.

Some comedy scenes land really well—you’ll actually laugh without trying. Some others are just okay, like they’re there to keep the energy going. Same with the action, nothing too heavy, just enough to keep things moving.

Yeah, it’s not a perfect film. A few parts feel like filler, and not every joke clicks. But the good thing is, the movie doesn’t pretend to be something big or deep. It just wants you to sit back and enjoy.

At the end of the day, Athiradi is that easy watch you throw on when you’re tired, don’t want drama, and just need a bit of fun noise in the background.
