Badass Ravi Kumar Review: Pure Chaos, Full Volume — Logic Optional, Entertainment Guaranteed

Badass Ravi Kumar is finally out on JioHotstar… and honestly, it’s exactly the kind of chaos you’d expect — sometimes fun, sometimes a bit “what did I just watch?

Directed by Keith Gomes, the film basically feels like a full-on throwback to those over-the-top 80s/90s masala movies, but turned up to max volume. And at the center of it all is Himesh Reshammiya as Ravi Kumar — a guy who doesn’t just bend the rules, he straight up ignores them and walks in slow motion while doing it.

Let’s be real: Himesh is not trying to act subtle here. He’s doing punchlines, dramatic stares, random musical bits… and somehow that is the movie’s vibe. If you go in expecting logic, you’ll probably get annoyed. If you go in ready for nonsense entertainment, it kinda works.

Prabhu Deva shows up and brings his usual swagger, though I wish he had more to do. Kirti Kulhari is solid but feels underused, like the script didn’t really know what to do with her after a point. Sunny Leone is there for glam and a couple of moments that feel very “massy item-song energy.”

The real scene-stealers though? Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra. Every time they pop up, the movie suddenly becomes way more watchable. Their timing just cuts through all the noise.

Story-wise… look, it’s thin. There’s crime, revenge, some patriotism thrown in, and a lot of slow-mo action that doesn’t really follow physics (or common sense). Villains like Saurabh Sachdeva and Prashant Narayanan try to add some edge, but the film isn’t really interested in depth — it just wants to keep moving, loudly.

Music-wise, well, it’s Himesh — so you already know what you’re getting. Loud, catchy in parts, a bit repetitive in others. Some tracks stick, some you’ll forget instantly.

Overall? It’s messy, over-the-top, and kinda ridiculous. But also… not boring. And honestly, that might be enough for some people.

If you’re in the mood for something grounded or smart — skip it.
If you just want to switch off your brain and watch a guy punch people while delivering dramatic one-liners — this might actually be your thing.
