Case of Kondana Movie Review:
Kannada cinema has been dropping some incredibly solid crime thrillers lately, and Case of Kondana—currently streaming on ETV Win—is definitely one you shouldn’t skip. Directed by Devi Prasad Shetty, the film reunites him with Vijay Raghavendra (their second outing together since Seetharam Benoy Case No. 18), with Bhavana Menon stepping in as the co-lead.
The Setup: A Rookie’s Nightmare
At its core, the movie tracks a rookie cop who messes up big time. One fatal mistake suddenly traps him in an escalating nightmare. Instead of coming clean as the official investigation kicks off, he tries to cover his tracks, plunging headfirst into a messy web of guilt, paranoia, and intense pressure.
What starts as a terrible lapse in judgment spirals into a gritty game of survival. Every choice he makes just seems to tighten the noose, bringing fresh, tense twists to the table.
Performances That Anchor the Film
Vijay Raghavendra totally nails it here. He carries the heavy emotional baggage of a compromised, terrified cop effortlessly, making you feel his panic through the screen.
Bhavana Menon brings a lot of much-needed depth to her role, complementing the narrative beautifully.
Together, the lead pair manages to keep the whole thing feeling grounded and real, even when the plot’s suspense hits its absolute peak.
Direction, Pacing, and Atmosphere
Director Devi Prasad Shetty deserves real credit for keeping the screenplay strictly focused. He doesn’t rely on deafening action sequences or cheesy melodrama to get your heart racing; instead, the tension builds organically. Yes, the first half takes a little while to find its footing and set up the story, but once you hit the second half, the unexpected turns really grab you.

Visually, Vishwajith Rao’s cinematography is spot on. It perfectly captures the moody, dark vibe a proper thriller needs. Pair that with Gagan Baderiya’s background score—which builds a sense of dread without ever overpowering the actual scenes—and you get a seriously tense atmosphere.
The Hiccups
It isn’t a flawless movie, though. A handful of scenes definitely drag a bit, and honestly, a few of the supporting characters feel a bit underdeveloped and could have used more backstory. But honestly? These are just minor bumps in an otherwise very smooth ride.
