Dahaan: The Evil Within Review

In case you are searching for a horror movie that really attempts to make an eerie environment rather than just using jump scares on you, it is recommended you watch Dahaan: The Evil Within. The Odia horror thriller film by director Anupam Patnaik now makes its appearance in Aha in Tamil and Telugu languages.

The storyline talks about a family coming across the evil in ancient times due to a box they open unknowingly. In the beginning, it appears to be a harmless affair but soon it becomes clear what kind of situation the family got into since the evil spirit took control of the place and started haunting them.

One of the best things about the film is the setting itself. An old and remote house makes an eerie atmosphere naturally. It doesn’t completely depend on loud background sounds or sudden appearances to scare you. There is a constant feeling that something is seriously wrong, even when nothing much is happening on screen.

Barsha Patnaik and Aurosikha Mishra do a good job carrying the emotional side of the story, while Samrat Mahapatra and Partha Sarathi Ray add to the tense atmosphere. The performances aren’t over-the-top, which helps the supernatural portions feel a little more believable.

The movie does have some familiar horror elements, especially if you’ve watched possession and haunted-house movies before. So don’t expect the genre to be reinvented here. But the combination of the family drama, supernatural mystery and dark atmosphere keeps things interesting.

Among the positives of Dahaan: The Evil Within is the fact that it tries its hand at making a full-blown supernatural horror film, as opposed to having a horror component in the storyline. There are some genuinely frightening scenes, though some could have been improved.

In summary, Dahaan: The Evil Within can be said to be a worthy choice for horror movie lovers, especially those who like tales of supernatural horror involving possessed houses and evil spirits. In addition, the Tamil and Telugu versions in Aha make it convenient for South Indian viewers to watch the Odisha horror film.

Verdict: A horrifying supernatural horror thriller with an intense atmosphere, decent performances, and plenty of dark elements to interest horror lovers.
