DC Story
Deva Das (Lokesh Kanagaraj) and his gang stop a government vehicle carrying weapons and steal the guns. They later use those weapons to kill a police officer, turning the case into a major challenge for the police department. A special team is formed to track them down.
While hiding in a lodge, Deva Das meets Parvathi (Sanjana Krishnamurthy), a singer who performs at a nearby bar. Their relationship slowly turns into love. But things take a tragic turn when the police raid the bar and Parvathi is killed in the crossfire.
Deva Das then begins hunting down those who helped the police locate him. During this journey, he meets Chandrika (Wamiqa Gabbi), a woman trapped in a brothel. What made Deva Das turn into a gangster? How does Chandrika change his journey? And why did he have to kill the police officer in the first place? The answers form the core of the story.

DC OTT Review: How Is It?
The basic idea behind DC is clear from its promotional material itself — the film questions what happens when the people responsible for enforcing the law are also involved in wrongdoing.
Arun Matheswaran attempts to blend revenge, love, friendship, exploitation and flaws within the police system into one raw action drama. The world of the film has a rustic and gritty feel, although the execution works only in parts.
The biggest issue is the pace. The first half moves slowly, and the story takes quite some time to actually get going. The opening weapon robbery is interesting, but the sequences that follow — Deva Das escaping from the police, meeting Parvathi and falling in love with her — don’t push the story forward quickly enough.
Things become more engaging after Parvathi’s death. The portions involving Chandrika, especially the sequences before the interval, bring much-needed energy to the film. The action block before the interval, combined with Anirudh’s background score, is one of the film’s major highlights.
The second half is considerably stronger. The story shifts towards Deva Das and Chandrika, and their unusual relationship gives the film an emotional layer. Chandrika’s plans to make money and the sequence where she goes to the police station to get Deva Das released stand out.
The film eventually wraps things up with a heavy action sequence and an emotional ending. While it isn’t entirely satisfying, the climax works reasonably well.

Performances
Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is better known as a filmmaker, makes his full-fledged acting debut as Deva Das. He is decent in the role, particularly during the action sequences. However, the character doesn’t offer him much scope for displaying different shades of emotion. His performance remains serious for most of the film, with limited expressions.
Wamiqa Gabbi is the biggest strength of the movie. She completely transforms herself for Chandrika, both in terms of appearance and performance. Her character gets considerably more importance in the second half, and in many ways, she becomes the real driving force of the film.
The rest of the cast members deliver performances that suit their respective roles.
Technical Aspects
Technically, DC is well made. Anirudh Ravichander’s background score is easily one of the film’s biggest positives. The interval action sequence and the police station sequence in the second half receive a major boost from his music.
The cinematography, editing and production values are also good. The film successfully creates a dark, raw and rustic atmosphere.
However, the screenplay lacks clarity in certain places. The story seems to begin quite abruptly, while some of the subsequent developments don’t carry enough emotional weight.
Another drawback is that the audience may connect more strongly with Chandrika than with Deva Das. The film also appears to follow a similar format to Arun Matheswaran’s earlier film Saani Kaayidham, particularly in the way its characters and revenge-driven narrative are handled.

Final Verdict
DC is a raw and rustic action drama that works better in its second half. The slow first half and lack of strong emotional depth hold it back, but Wamiqa Gabbi’s performance, the action sequences and Anirudh’s pulsating background score make it worth checking out on OTT.
Verdict: A gritty action drama that may appeal to viewers who enjoy raw, violent and unconventional storytelling.
