Hey Balwanth movie review:

I just watched Hey Balwanth on Zee5 and yeah… kinda mixed bag tbh.
It’s directed by Gopi Atchara (his first film), and you can actually feel that it comes from a good place. Like, the idea is nice, there’s emotion, there’s that underdog angle… all the right ingredients are there. But somehow it just doesn’t fully land.
Suhas is doing most of the heavy lifting here. He’s genuinely good in parts, especially where the film slows down and lets him just be. You can see the effort, and in a few scenes it really works. But then the film doesn’t always support him properly.
Shivani Nagaram is fine… nothing bad, nothing wow either. Her role feels a bit underwritten honestly. Like she’s there, but you don’t get enough to really connect.

Same with the supporting cast—Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Ajay Ghosh… all solid actors, but here they’re just kinda… there. No one really stands out or gives you that one moment you remember later.
Biggest issue is pacing. It drags in places where it shouldn’t, and then suddenly rushes through parts that actually needed more time. That uneven feel keeps pulling you out of it. You start checking how much is left, which is never a great sign.
Music is okay, background score does its job. Nothing annoying, but also nothing that stays with you after. Visuals are decent enough, pretty standard.
Overall, it’s not a bad film. You can see what they were trying to do, and you kinda wish it worked better. It’s one of those movies you watch, don’t hate, but also don’t really think about again later.
Yeah… one-time watch vibes.
