Legends web series review:

Legends is not the kind of show that grabs you with explosions, twists every five minutes, or loud emotional scenes. It takes its own time. In fact, the first episode itself feels almost too calm at first. But somewhere around the second or third episode, the series quietly pulls you in.
Now streaming on Netflix
in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Legends feels more like a character-driven crime drama than a fast-paced thriller. And honestly, that works in its favor.
Directed by Brady Hood and Julian Holmes, the series focuses more on tension, conversations, hidden motives, and damaged people rather than flashy storytelling. Some viewers may find the pace slow, but if you stick with it, the payoff is actually pretty satisfying.
Tom Burke is excellent here. He carries that tired, emotionally burdened look throughout the series, and it fits the tone perfectly. He doesn’t try too hard to act “intense.” Most of his performance comes through silence, expressions, and the way he reacts during uncomfortable situations.
Steve Coogan is a surprise. People usually associate him with comedy, but here he brings a very controlled and grounded performance. There’s this quiet unpredictability to his character that keeps things interesting.
The supporting cast also does solid work. Hayley Squires and Tom Hughes especially stand out in emotional scenes. Nobody feels overdramatic. The writing keeps everyone believable, even when the plot gets dark.
One thing the show does really well is atmosphere. Almost every episode has this uneasy feeling like something is about to go wrong. Even simple conversations feel tense. The background score helps too — never overpowering, just sitting quietly underneath the scenes.
That said, Legends is definitely not for everyone. If someone goes in expecting nonstop thrills or action-heavy storytelling, they may get bored. A few episodes could honestly have been tighter. Sometimes the show spends too much time building mood instead of moving the story forward.
But the emotional weight of the characters keeps it engaging. The show understands that crime dramas become memorable only when the people inside them feel real.
Technically, it’s very polished without showing off. Cinematography looks clean and cinematic, especially the night sequences. The Telugu dubbing is decent too, which helps if you prefer watching regional-language versions.
What makes Legends work finally is that it trusts the audience. It doesn’t spoon-feed emotions or overexplain every twist. You slowly understand people, their lies, their regrets, and their hidden intentions as the story moves along.
By the final episode, the series leaves behind that slightly heavy feeling good dramas usually do — not because it shocks you, but because the characters start feeling real.
It’s slow, moody, occasionally uneven… but definitely worth watching if you enjoy grounded crime dramas with strong performances.
