Raakh Review : This One Stayed on My Mind Longer Than I Expected

Raakh Review:
Raakh Review

I went into Raakh thinking it would be another crime show. You know, the kind with a story a cop who has a lot of problems some surprises and a lot of dark pictures.. As I kept watching Raakh became more than that.

Raakh is set in 1978. Is based on the really scary Ranga-Billa case. It is two children who disappear. This is a story from the start and the show does not try to make it fun to watch. Instead it focuses on the fear, confusion and sadness that happen when something like this occurs.

What really got to me was the feeling of the show. There is always a sense of fear hanging over Raakh. Even when things are quiet something does not feel right. This is not because the show is trying too hard to be dark. Because you can feel how much the characters are affected by what happened.

Ali Fazal does a job of playing his role in a quiet way. He is not playing a superhero investigator who knows everything. Most of the time he looks tired frustrated and determined to keep going. This works well. Sonali Bendre is also very good in the show in the emotional scenes. There are times when she does not say much. You can still feel her pain. Aamir Bashir is also very good. Helps make the family part of the story feel real.

I also liked how Raakh shows what life was like in the 1970s without constantly reminding you of it. The setting feels real. The streets, the homes, the small details in the background. Nothing feels fake.

That being said I am not going to say that Raakh is perfect. There were times when the investigation moved slowly for me. Some scenes felt longer than they needed to be. I found myself wanting things to move faster. Some people might have trouble with the pace.

The slow pace also helps make the emotional parts of the story feel more real. Raakh spends time with the families. Shows their grief and uncertainty. Because of this the case feels personal and not just another mystery to be solved.

By the episode I was not thinking about the investigation as much, as the people who were affected by it. That is where *Raakh* does a job. It remembers that behind every news story and every crime there are people who get hurt.

Raakh is not a show that you will watch all in one night. It is heavy, uncomfortable and sometimes hard to watch.. It is also thoughtful, well-acted and emotional.

If you want to watch something and do not mind a slow pace Raakh is definitely worth watching.
