SYSTEM:
SYSTEM is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and if the cast alone caught your attention, honestly, fair enough. A film directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari with Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika, and Ashutosh Gowariker together already sounds interesting on paper.
And for the most part, the film does keep you watching.
Without getting into spoiler territory, SYSTEM feels like one of those movies trying to say something bigger. It’s not just running behind entertainment for the sake of it — there’s drama, emotion, tension, and a lot of moments where the film clearly wants you to think about the systems around people and how messy things can get.
The biggest plus here is definitely the performances.
Sonakshi Sinha gets a role that actually gives her space to perform instead of just showing up and disappearing into the background. She feels more controlled here, less dramatic in an over-the-top way, which works for the film.
Jyotika, meanwhile, quietly steals scenes in places. There’s a calm intensity to her performance, and honestly, whenever she’s on screen, things feel more grounded.
And then there’s Ashutosh Gowariker, who adds a different layer to the film. He brings enough seriousness to make the conflicts feel believable.
That said, SYSTEM isn’t perfect.
There are moments where the film feels like it’s trying to juggle too many ideas at once. Some scenes land really well, while others feel slightly stretched or a bit too “message-heavy.” You can almost feel the movie wanting to say something important, but not every part hits equally hard.
Still, credit where it’s due — the film stays engaging enough, mainly because of the performances and the emotional weight in parts. Even when it slows down, you kind of want to see where things are headed.
So, is SYSTEM worth streaming?
Yeah, probably — especially if you like character-driven dramas with solid actors doing most of the heavy lifting. Just don’t go in expecting nonstop thrills. This feels more like a slow, layered watch.
