Tavvai Movie Review:

I think horror films often try to scare us with loud noises but Tavvai does something a little different. Of just showing us ghosts and creepy things it combines Hindu mythology and an old curse to make a supernatural story. You can watch Tavvai on JioHotstar now. It has a fresh idea even if it is not perfect.
Nirbhay Jariwala and Jayesh Vrushiraj directed Tavvai. It is about Pitra Dosh, which is a big part of Hindu tradition. The story also talks about the fight between Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Alakshmi which adds a layer to the film. It all starts with a ruler from the 19th century who does something bad and unleashes a curse that haunts people for generations.

The film takes its time to build an atmosphere it does not just rush into it. The music is eerie the pictures are dark. The setting is mysterious which makes us feel tense all the time. There are some creepy moments in Tavvai but the film is more interested in telling its story than just trying to scare us all the time.
Arpit Ranka does a job and Manoj Joshi is very good in the film. The other actors also fit well into the world that the filmmakers created.

Tavvai is really good when it comes to its idea. The combination of mythology and horror is different from the haunted house story.. Sometimes the film can feel a bit slow and some scenes could have been better to make the suspense work.
Overall Tavvai is worth watching if you want to see a horror film, with a twist, not just a typical supernatural thriller. It may not be the film you will see this year but its unique idea and the way it uses folklore to tell the story make it an interesting film.
