The Court:

The Court OTT Review: The Court is the Tamil show from Hotstar Specials and it is now available to watch on JioHotstar. The show airs a week and stars Yoga Lakshmi, JayaPrakash and Mahalakshmi in main roles. Episodes one to four can be watched in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
The Court Series Review
Legal dramas are effective when they do more than show courtroom speeches. They also show the people and problems that lie behind each case. The Court does that.
The series opens by meeting its characters and gradually building the world around them. Of jumping straight into big courtroom scenes the first few episodes spend time showing the situations and conflicts that will push the story ahead.

The first four episodes carry a tone. They mix problems, legal twists and questions about what is right or wrong. Some parts feel very real. Work well. Other parts take a while before they become interesting.
One thing that helps The Court is that it does not make every lawyer or character larger than life. The courtroom scenes and character talks feel down-to-earth giving The Court a realistic feel.
Performances
Yoga Lakshmi plays a role and does a good job showing the emotional parts of the story. She keeps her acting calm. Does not overact.
JayaPrakash is reliable as always. Gives weight to his scenes. Mahalakshmi also shows her presence in the more emotional parts.
The supporting cast helps keep the courtroom scenes believable.
How Are the First Four Episodes?

The biggest advantage of The Court is its premise. The show builds the story slowly than throwing many twists at the audience right away.
At the time the pacing could have been a bit tighter in some spots. A few scenes feel like they are there to set up something that will happen later.
Because this is a weekly series the slow build could work in its favour. The real test will be whether the next episodes bring courtroom drama and give more depth to the characters shown in the opening episodes.

If you like Tamil dramas and slow-burn courtroom stories The Court is worth trying on JioHotstar.
The Court is now streaming on JioHotstar, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. New episodes come each week.
Verdict: A start but the next episodes must raise the intensity.
