Razor:
Razor is one of those movies that tries to mix survival tension with a bit of emotional weight—and mostly lands somewhere in the middle. It’s streaming now on Aha, and honestly, it’s the kind of film you can just sit through in one go without feeling bored, even if it doesn’t fully blow your mind.
Directed by and starring Ravi Babu, the story is a bit unusual. He plays a pet groomer—yes, that’s the hook—who suddenly gets dragged into a dangerous situation when a young girl (played by Neha Deshpande) witnesses a crime linked to a powerful political network. From that point, it turns into a chase-survival setup where normal life just stops existing.
Aadi Saikumar appears in a more intense role, adding weight to the conflict side of things.
What works is the basic idea. The “ordinary man stuck in an extreme situation” angle always has potential, and here too, there are moments where the tension actually clicks. A few scenes feel raw and immediate, like things could go wrong any second. The survival portions are the strongest part of the film.
But it’s not perfectly tight. Some parts feel stretched, and the emotional build doesn’t always hit as hard as it should. You can also feel that the film is trying to balance too many tones—thriller, emotional drama, and action—so it doesn’t always flow smoothly.
Still, it’s not a dull watch. The setup keeps you curious, and Ravi Babu’s presence holds things together even when the writing dips.
In short, Razor is not a flawless thriller, but it’s a decent, watchable survival ride with a few sharp moments—just don’t expect a consistently intense edge from start to finish.
